Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag Details, Screens Released

black flagAfter Ubisoft confirmed the next installment in the Assassin’s Creed franchise following a string of leaks, full details of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag have been released today, including high-res screenshots and a cinematic trailer.

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag has been in development for nearly two years and will put players in the shoes of a pirate named Edward Kenway, who is caught in between the Assassins and Templars and their never-ending war. Set in the early 1700s, Black Flag will feature some of the most infamous pirate battles in history and will take players across the West Indies during a violent time period known as the Golden Age of Pirates.

“With the new hero and new setting we are creating the boldest and most unique Assassin’s Creed game yet, while still respecting the pillars of the franchise that have made it such a fan favorite,” said Yves Guillemot, chief executive officer at Ubisoft. “Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag is based on a true, harsh and exciting part of a legendary era and will thrill longtime fans and newcomers alike.”

Those who preorder Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag at Gamestop will receive a limited edition poster created by legendary comic book artist Todd McFarlane.

Buyers of the PlayStation 3 or PlayStation 4 version of the game will be able to download an exclusive 60-minute DLC pack after the game’s launch.

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag will be avaiable on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii U on October 29, 2013. Release dates for the PS4, PC and other “next-gen consoles” have yet to be revealed.
